TOURNAMENT RULES – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Eligibility

1. Players within the historic circulation area of the Times Herald (local players) are eligible to compete.
2. Contestants may enter up to three events (one singles, one doubles, and one mixed doubles).
3. Eligible participants may partner with non-local players for all doubles events. Non-local players may also enter one singles event.
4. Guidelines

Junior Divisions - Players that are 10, 12, 14, 16 or 18 years old are allowed to play in their age divisions unless they will turn 11, 13, 15, 17 or 19, respectively, by August 31, 2016.

Adult Divisions - Players who will reach the age of 35, 45, 55, or 65 by 12-31-16 will be eligible to compete in their respective age division.

Open Divisions - Any player regardless of age or sex is eligible for the Open Divisions.

Women’s Open - Any female player regardless of age is eligible for the Women’s Open Divisions.

10 & Under Competition

1. The Boys’ and Girls’ 10 & Under Singles events will be played with Green Dot Balls on a 78ft court.
2. The 10 & Under Play Day event is independent of the Boy’s and Girls’ 10 & Under Singles draws.

Scoring, Court Officials/Roving Umpire

1. All matches will be best of three sets using regular scoring and a set tiebreak (first to 7 points win by 2) at six games all in each set. Upon splitting sets, a 3^rd set match tiebreak (first to 10 points win by 2) in lieu of a regular third set will be played.
2. The “Roving Umpire” and “Point Penalty” systems will be in effect throughout the tournament.

Schedule of Play

Approximate guideline. Some semifinal matches may be played during the week depending on draw size. Otherwise, semifinals will be played Saturday. Finals will be played Sunday. Weather & time permitting, first round junior events will play a consolation match. Although we try to start the adults at 5pm, please be prepared to play at 4pm depending on draw size & available courts.
